Chief Executive Officer
David Wood’s 25 years in the healthcare industry, including softgel contract manufacturing at the executive level at Catalent/R.P. Scherer, make him a leader in his field. David is adept at building high performing executive teams and leading international manufacturing and service organizations with full P&L responsibility. His pharmaceutical contract manufacturing experience has served him well in pushing CAPTEK to the highest compliance standards in the industry. He is known as a strategic visionary with a clear sense of purpose and urgency during both challenging periods and rapid growth.
David is a highly regarded leader who specializes in helping teams get clarity on their mission and lead them to outperform even their own expectations. He leads with a strategic, pragmatic, results-driven orientation with a clear sense of purpose and urgency, and has helped establish operational excellence within diverse environments in the US and Europe.
A native of Canada, David earned his degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario. David started his career in Toronto, then transferred to New Jersey in 1998 with Becton Dickinson. After enjoying 13 years in New Jersey, he was brave enough to move his wife and daughters to the West Coast. David enjoys racing sailboats in Long Beach as well as punishing himself on the golf course as often as his self-esteem will allow.
VP & General Manager
For over the past decade at CAPTEK, Paul’s commitment has been to continually drive a robust quality infrastructure and full regulatory compliance. Paul’s experience and expertise span from quality control laboratory and technical affairs to quality assurance and regulatory matters. Paul has ranged from direct involvement to oversight and management of development, implementation, execution, and optimization of the aforementioned quality and regulatory systems; these systems have been vetted by regulatory bodies, third-party industry compliance firms, and customers. Paul believes in persistent, continuous improvement to establish a distinguished quality platform, driving the “c” in cGMP. He’s chaired industry expertise panel boards, gives talks regularly at various industry events, and actively participates in numerous technical committees.
Prior to his tenure at CAPTEK, Paul was in academic research at the University of California, Berkeley, where he’s participated in the first ever discovery of immunophilins in plants in association with their respective genetics/genomics. Paul, his wife, and his two daughters reside in Southern California.
Chief Financial Officer
Fon Wong is a well-rounded business finance and accounting leader with a strategic business orientation, hands-on approach and demonstrated expertise in Finance and Accounting. He has over 20 years’ experience in the consumer goods and pharmaceutical industries.
Prior to joining CAPTEK, Fon spent over 10 years in the CPG industry at both Ajinomoto Windsor Foods and Nestle USA. In addition, he spent a number of years at NBTY/Leiner Health Products in the Dietary Supplements and OTC Drugs businesses. As VP/CFO at Ajinomoto Windsor, Fon led teams in Corporate Finance, Accounting and Information Technology functions.
At CAPTEK, Fon is an integral part of the leadership team and works closely with executives on the strategic, business, and financial initiatives of the company, including post-merger functional integration and mid-term growth plan.
Fon migrated from China at an early age. He attended the University of Southern California and earned both a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Cum Laude) and a Master in Business Administration. Fon and his family have been long-time residents of Southern California.
Chief Operating Officer
Danielle Conner is a senior manufacturing and operations executive with over 25 years of high-volume, large-scale, manufacturing experience directing both union and non-union employees from the floor to senior management. She adeptly oversees end-to-end supply chain management throughout planning, procurement, order fulfillment, shipping, inventory management, safety and quality.
Danielle is a poised leader with acknowledged business acumen and is a trusted collaborator who diplomatically navigates highly-matrixed organizations and manages external partners for optimum results. She has a deep understanding of quality management system procedures and world class manufacturing processes which allows her to be a nimble executive who works well in fast-paced environments subject to market changes and continuous improvement. Danielle is effective at evaluating, implementing and forecasting operating budgets and capital needs in support of short- term and long-term business plans. Danielle is passionate about increasing efficiency and process improvement.
Danielle earned Master degrees in both engineering and management from Drexel University and spent over 16 years in East & Midwestern USA before making California home for the past 5 years. She is married, and has two sons.
VP, Product Development
Building on over 25 years of experience in Product Development, Tim has a thorough understanding of what is needed to make even challenging softgel concepts into reality.
Prior to joining the CAPTEK team, Tim Chiprich held R&D management positions at Nutrition Express, Leiner Health Products and at R.P. Scherer. He also held Scientist / Formulator positions at General Nutrition Products and Pennex Products. In his roles, he led teams responsible for the development of pharmaceuticals, dietary supplements, and cosmetic products in softgels, hard shell capsules, tablets, liquids, and powdered dosage forms but his passion is softgels. He has also participated in gelatin research and new technology projects and has several pending and granted patents involving specialty gelatin-based products and delivery systems.
A native of western Pennsylvania, Tim earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the California University of Pennsylvania. He lived and worked in Pittsburgh, PA, Greenville, SC, St. Petersburgh, FL and Charlotte, NC, before finding his way to California – his home now for the last 7 years.
Director of Quality & Validation
Hiren Patel is our Director of Quality and Validation and has been with Captek Pharma since July 2018. Hiren brings about 28 years of pharmaceutical development and manufacturing experience with emphasis on product/process development, validation and quality. With his vast experience and dynamic leadership, Hiren is instrumental in establishing a state of the art quality control laboratory at Captek Pharma. Along with the lab Hiren also leads the dynamic quality unit and a product development/validation team and ready to deliver the excellent quality product at Captek Pharma. With his direct involvement in product development, validation and quality programs at Captek Pharma, Hiren is poised to meet any challenging and strict quality standard.
Prior to joining Captek Pharma, Hiren most recently served as an independent consultant providing consulting services to several pharmaceutical firms ranging from startups to digital medicine initiative to establish their respective development and validation programs. Prior to consulting, Hiren served in various leadership positions with Actavis Inc. (formerly Watson Laboratories) as Director, Product Development, Generics. During his tenure with Actavis, Hiren has championed generic drug development of several pipeline products. Hiren has several ANDAs successfully filed and approved for US and other markets including Canada and Australia. Hiren has successfully participated in several Pre-Approval Inspections and general cGMP inspections by US FDA. Prior to Actavis, Hiren worked with several well-known pharmaceutical companies including Sidmak Laboratories, Merck & Co and Ortho-McNeil a J&J company.
Hiren received his BS in Pharmacy from J. N. Medical College, School of Pharmacy and his MS in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from LM College of Pharmacy, India.
SVP, Sales & Marketing
Kevin Tully joined CAPTEK as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing after nearly 25 years of experience in global sales and marketing, building market share for branded and private label manufacturing businesses.
Prior to joining CAPTEK, Kevin spent the last 17 years at leading companies including Pharmavite, Nice-Pak, and Nature’s Bounty. Kevin consistently delivered double-digit sales growth by identifying and capitalizing on business opportunities. These include the establishment and growing of market share, and devising solutions to a wide range of business, sales, and marketing challenges. Kevin is recognized for his customer development and leadership, overseeing customer P&L, trade budget, and improving customer profitability. He has developed and maintained top-to-top customer relationships built on healthy client-focused values.
At CAPTEK, Kevin is an integral part of the leadership team and works closely with executives on developing strategic sales plans based on company goals that will promote sales growth and customer satisfaction for the organization. His marketing acumen will lead the company in developing new channel strategies, category growth, increased points of distribution, increased promotional executions, and pricing and retail performance objectives.
An Ohio native, Kevin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Cincinnati. Kevin is married and has three adult children.
Human Resources Director
Theresa has spent nearly 20 years in HR – an accomplished career during which she’s built cohesive teams and provided guidance to senior leadership teams during rapid change and growth transitions. Recognized as a consensus builder among diverse groups, she brings a wealth of professional strengths and industry experience to CAPTEK as Human Resources Director.
Before joining the CAPTEK team, Theresa has led important HR initiatives, for companies in different industries, while always remaining cost-conscious. She is well known for being an engaged mentor and talent manager within her network.
Theresa is passionate about building careers and enjoys helping employees and the management team connect on what’s really important to them. She has a burning desire to leave everything better than the way she found it.
Theresa earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from the University of Southern California and her Master’s Degree in Organizational Development from the University of La Verne.
